Etihad The Residence: What It Is, What's Inside, and Which Routes Fly It in 2026
Etihad The Residence is the only three-room suite in commercial aviation. In 2026 it flies to London, Paris, Toronto, Singapore, and Tokyo Narita — with Bangkok joining from October. Here's what's inside.

There are two suites per Etihad A380. They sit on the upper deck, at the very front of the aircraft, and they are called The Residence. Each one is a three-room private suite — a living room, a separate bedroom with a double bed, and an en-suite shower room. They accommodate two passengers and are priced accordingly. There is nothing else quite like them in commercial aviation, and in 2026, they are flying to more destinations than they have in recent years.
What is inside Etihad The Residence?
The living room comes first — a sofa, an armchair, and a dining table. The ceiling height on the upper deck of the A380 gives the space a feeling of volume that lower-deck cabins don't have. Through a door is the bedroom: a double bed, properly made up, with storage on both sides. Beyond that is the en-suite shower room — a full shower, not a wet room compromise.
The suite includes a dedicated butler for the flight. Meals are served in the living room on request, at any time. The entertainment system has separate screens in both the living room and the bedroom. The suite can be configured for one passenger or two — the double bed converts to two singles if preferred.
Adjacent to the two Residence suites are nine First Apartments — Etihad's standard first class product — with lounge seating and 80-inch lie-flat beds.
Which routes fly The Residence in 2026?
As of mid-2026, Etihad's A380 fleet operates The Residence on five routes from Abu Dhabi:
- London Heathrow (EY 11/12)
- Paris Charles de Gaulle (EY 11/12, seasonal)
- Toronto Pearson (EY 181/182)
- Singapore Changi (EY 471/472)
- Tokyo Narita — launched June 16, 2026 (EY 871/872)
- Bangkok — A380 deployment confirmed from October 25, 2026
What's significant about the Tokyo and Bangkok additions?
Tokyo Narita is the most recent addition, having launched on June 16, 2026 — making Japan the fifth A380 destination in the Etihad network. Etihad returned its eighth A380 to service specifically for this route, reflecting strong demand between Abu Dhabi and Japan.
Bangkok from October 2026 brings The Residence to Thailand for the first time. The A380 will operate the evening service, which means The Residence is an option for passengers routing from the US or Europe through Abu Dhabi to Bangkok.
How does The Residence compare to other ultra-premium products?
The three-room configuration is genuinely unique. The closest comparison — a separate living space and sleeping space in the air — doesn't exist elsewhere in commercial aviation at the same scale. Etihad charges accordingly: The Residence is priced at a significant premium over the adjacent First Apartments, and availability is limited to two suites per flight.
For a couple travelling together on a long-haul route, particularly on the London, Singapore, or Tokyo sectors, The Residence is one of those products where the experience is clearly differentiated from everything else available. The math doesn't work for everyone, but for the right trip, it's worth it.
