Emirates Chauffeur Vehicles by Cabin: BMW 5 Series, Limousine, or Mercedes V-Class — What You Actually Get

Emirates chauffeur vehicles are not standardised across cabin classes. First gets a BMW 5 Series or limousine. Business gets a sedan. Groups travel in a Mercedes V-Class. Here's what to request and why it matters.

Emirates chauffeur drive vehicle — BMW 5 Series in Dubai for Emirates First Class passengers, airport ground transfer

The Emirates chauffeur drive service is not a single experience. The vehicle that collects a First Class passenger in Dubai is different from the one that picks up a Business Class passenger, and both are different from what a group of four travelling together might find waiting for them. This matters most when you're briefing a principal on what to expect, or when you're arranging pick-up for a travelling party of mixed cabin classes.

What vehicle does Emirates First Class chauffeur use?

In Dubai and in most major cities, First Class chauffeur passengers receive a BMW 5 Series — specifically the long-wheelbase variant in markets where it's available. In some cities, particularly for longer distances or on request, a full limousine is provided. The distinction between a BMW 5 Series J (standard First) and a limousine F (upgraded) exists in Dubai's ground transportation coding, though the specific vehicle may vary by availability on the day.

What vehicle does Emirates Business Class chauffeur use?

Business Class passengers receive a standard sedan — typically a BMW 5 Series or equivalent, though the exact vehicle depends on the city and the local service provider. The vehicle standard is generally lower than First Class, and in some cities the difference between the two is more pronounced than in others.

What about groups?

For parties of three or more, or for passengers travelling with significant luggage, Emirates uses a Mercedes V-Class or equivalent multi-passenger vehicle. This applies across cabin classes for group bookings. It's worth noting that a group in Business Class on a Mercedes V-Class may find the vehicle comparable in comfort to a First Class solo sedan — the distinction is less about luxury and more about practicality.

Does the vehicle vary by city?

Yes, significantly. Emirates operates the chauffeur service through local third-party providers in most cities outside the UAE, and vehicle standards vary. London, New York, and Dubai tend to offer the most consistent premium vehicle experience. In some secondary cities, the vehicle may be a local equivalent rather than the BMW or Mercedes specifically.

What should you request when booking?

If the vehicle matters — for a specific occasion, for luggage requirements, or for a group — the chauffeur reservation should note this at the time of booking. The Emirates website and app allow chauffeur reservations to be made up to 48 hours before departure, and requests can be noted in the comments field. Following up with a call to the Emirates service line is advisable for high-priority bookings.

Does this apply to award tickets?

No. As covered separately, Emirates removed chauffeur drive from Skywards award tickets effective March 1, 2019. The vehicle information above applies to revenue passengers in First and Business Class.
